Copa del Rey: Uche Shines with Another Assist as Getafe Scrape Past Lower-Tier Opponent to Secure Quarter-final Spot.

 

Christantus Uche continued his playmaking streak on Wednesday night, delivering the decisive assist in Getafe’s narrow 1-0 victory over lower-tier Pontevedra, sealing their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

This marks Uche's second consecutive game with an assist, following his contribution in Getafe’s 2-1 triumph against Las Palmas.

The Nigerian forward wasted no time, setting up Alvaro Rodriguez for the match's only goal just two minutes in. However, Rodriguez’s night took a dramatic turn as he was sent off with a straight red card shortly before halftime.

Getafe faced further disciplinary trouble in injury time when Diego Rico received a second yellow card and was dismissed in the 92nd minute.

The quarter-final draw for the Copa del Rey is scheduled for January 20, with the semi-final clashes set to take place from February 4 to 6, 2025.
