Confirmed: FC Basel Completing Signing of Otele from Al Wahda
Nigeria striker Philip Otele has sealed a loan move to Swiss club FC Basel from UAE Pro League side Al Wahda, with an option for Basel to make the deal permanent for €3 million at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old forward made 13 appearances for Al Wahda but failed to register a goal or assist during his time at the club.
Otele is eager to make an impact at Basel, expressing his excitement about the move: “I’m thrilled to sign with FC Basel today. The club has a rich international reputation for its success, and many world-class players have made their mark here, both in the past and today."
He continued, "This is a fantastic opportunity for me personally. With my style of play, I aim to bring an unpredictable edge to the attack. I’m quick and versatile in the final third.”
Basel’s sporting director, Daniel Stucki, shared his enthusiasm about the signing: "Philip Otele is an explosive player who adds a unique dimension to our attacking play with his physicality. His experience at a young age makes him a valuable asset, and he provides an excellent option for us on the wing or in the forward line. We’re very excited to bring him into the squad."
