Agu Backs Eric Chelle to Triumph with Super Eagles

Former Nigerian international Alloy Agu has expressed confidence in Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle's ability to succeed with the national team.

Chelle, appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday as Augustine Eguavoen’s successor, is tasked with steering the team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking with SportsVibz, Agu highlighted the wealth of talent available to Chelle, emphasizing the coach’s potential to maximize the squad’s performance.

“I’m pleased the NFF has brought in Eric Chelle to lead the Super Eagles. Some might question his appointment, but the NFF must have solid reasons for their choice. I firmly believe he will succeed if given the freedom to work independently,” Agu stated.

He added, “The 2026 World Cup qualifiers are not beyond reach. With the right mentality from the players and coaching staff, I’m optimistic Nigeria will make it.

“All he needs is our support and the right resources to help the team grow and improve.”
